Cookie Went Home

I just wanted to let everyone know that Cookie has found her forever family. Cookie went home this morning with her new big brother, Bonkers. I know that they will have lots of fun adventures together.

Thanks to everybody who enjoyed this blog, and to all of Cookie's friends who spent time at the park with us. And last but not least Adam, who always looked forward to spending time with Cookie.
If I here about any of the Frisbees I will make sure to let you know.

Babysitter Cookie

Cookie is a great babysitter, she loves to play with her little sisters.

This is Cookie playing with Ivanna.

Cookie is a great little girl. She is finally potty trained, I think it took her longer to potty train because she was just having too much fun to stop and go outside.
Cookie loves to play and has a very bubbly personality.
This week I am going to give Cookie another bath, and snap a few more pictures with a fully groomed Cookie.

Cookie Update

I just wanted to give everybody an update on Cookie.
On October 2nd Cookie went to the vet to be spayed and have her cleft lip repaired.
At 10:30 that morning I received a call from the vet. He said that her cleft lip had gotten a bit worst and her front palate had also developed a cleft.
He believes it is not a good idea to try and repair the damage because it would be very involved, very painful for Cookie and their is no way to guarantee that She would let the stitches stay in.

I trust my vet and know that he puts the animals needs before mine, so I asked several questions. They were, "Will Cookie be able to live a long and healthy life with the cleft lip and palate the way that they are now? Will the cleft lip and palate get worse as she grows? Do you think she will grow a lot more?"
Dr Winters assured me that he didn't believe that Cookie's Cleft Lip and Palate would get any worse over time. Dr Winters said he thought Cooke would get a little bigger and she should live a long and healthy life just the way she is.

I took this picture to show how big Cookie is right now, she is currently about 18 pounds.

The family that Cookie was planning on going home with this weekend, has decided that they no longer want her. So Cookie is looking for a family that will love her for who she is and not what she looks like. We think she is just the cutest little thing out there.
Cookie doesn't know that she is different. She thinks that she is a normal dog, and she is very lucky because she is able to be treated like a normal dog. Cookie eats dry dog food, she doesn't like the wet stuff, she loves chewing on bones and playing with the other dogs in our family.
Cookie is very out going and loves everybody, she loves to play the clown and be the center of attention. We have been going to the park once a week for almost 3 months now, and she loves going to flea markets with us. Cookie was one of the harder puppies to potty train but has gone almost 3 weeks without an accident. Right now Cookie is learning how to sit on command, and a few other cute tricks just for fun.
If you are interested in adding Cookie to your family please send us an email. We do have a few requirements as we love her very much and want to make sure she finds the perfect forever family.

Oreo and Cookie are 7 weeks Old!

Oreo is still looking for his forever home.
Oreo is vary laid back and loves to take cat naps on your feet. Oreo is about 10 pounds of love right now. Based on the size of our first litter of Frisbee's he should be between 30-40 pounds. Of course he could surprise everyone and get bigger.

Oreo loves to play!

Oreo loves to play with his little siblings. He is so much bigger that playtime is always supervised. After they are done playing Oreo likes to nap next to his siblings playpen.

Cookie is just a doll. Cookie will be staying with us for a little while before she goes home in October.

Cookie and Oreo are very busy working on house training. They are both kennel trained, meaning they sleep in a plastic kennel in the living room and then go straight out to potty when they wake up. They are both also working very hard on leash training.
This afternoon we are going to the park and maybe we will get a few snap shots to add to this weeks album.

Oreo and Cookie are 6 weeks old.

Little Oreo was 8 pounds when we went to the Vet on Wed. for Shots. Oreo loves exploring as long as he knows he can take a nap on your feet when he is done. Right now Oreo is teething, so his favorite past time is Chewing. Oreo loves to play outside and smell new smells.

Cookie has had a very dramatic week. Wednesday Cookie went in to have surgery on her cleft lip. Cookie was 4 pounds on Wednesday. Everything was great until Friday night when she pulled out all her stitches.
Ok, maybe great is an exaggeration, she can only have liquids to eat and she is not allowed to chew on anything. As Cookie is also teething it has been rough for her.

We love Cookie no matter what she looks like. She has a lot of personality and we think she is cute no matter what she looks like on the outside.

Oreo is a little card. Here Oreo is asking a Smoky to play.
Momma Alice went to the Vet this week too. She was spayed, so this is our last litter of Frisbees. Alice is doing very well and has been very good about not tearing her stitches.
I have posted more pictures of the puppies including close up shots of Cookie's cleft lip and teeth.

Oreo And Cookie are 5 weeks old.

Little Cookie and Oreo are the best of friends. They are both going to the Vet on Wed. Oreo is going to get his shots and Cookie is going to have cosmetic surgery to fix her nose. Mama Alice is going to tag along and get spayed.

Oreo is still looking for his forever family. He is about twice the size of his sister and all cuddle.
Right now he is learning what is appropriate to chew on as he is teething and tries to chew on everything.

Oreo is really laid back and loves to cuddle.

Our Cookie is really special and very spoiled. Cookie is off the bottle and drinking milk from a bowl. Cookie is now responding to her name and loves to hear,"C is for Cookie."

Cookie and Oreo are now learning how to sleep in a kennel together. On Wed they will start sleeping in their own kennels to get them ready to go home. Neither Oreo or Cookie have had accidents at night for a week or so. They both rush right outside to potty first thing in the morning and will follow the other dogs out to potty during the day. They both still have accidents but I like to passively potty train until they are between 6-7 weeks old.
This week Oreo and Cookie will be leash training and going for lots of car rides.

Motoring Around!

Wow have we had a week. Little Oreo and Cookie have had another bath.

Oreo was really slow to start moving but now he can really motor. He runs out of the kennel first thing in the morning and pees on the floor. Soon he will be following mom outside to pee.

Cookie is going out further and further on exploration. Last night she was playing hide-and-seek and hid under the dryer. It took 30 minutes to find her. I have to admit I was starting to panic when I finally found her.

Little Oreo found Dexter's foot. Dexter loves to play with puppies. Fawkes, the Bichon in the background, is baby sitting.
More Pictures.

I will post again soon,

Cookie and Oreo Are 3 weeks old!

Wow, what a busy week we have had.
I am happy to let everyone know that Little Cookie has found her forever home.
This week Oreo and Cookie had their first baths. Don't they look clean?

Oreo is almost 3 times as big as his sister. We lovingly call him our little pudge pot.
Oreo is a snuggle pup, always on someones lap.

This is our princess Cookie. She is doing very well, she is still bottle fed 5 times a day. Cookie also loves having the Cookie Monster song sung during her bottle feedings.

We had another milestone this week. Both Cookie and Oreo started eating semi solid foods. After a day or two of attempting to eat their puppy gruel they really needed a bath.

We also have a new album listed on Picasa.

Oreo and Cookie are 2 weeks old!

Wow what a week!
Both Oreo and Cookie have opened their eyes and are becoming more active.

I just couldn't help snapping a few quick shots as Oreo and Cookie took a nap in Mom's food dish.

Little Oreo is already over 4 pounds. He is very laid back and enjoys taking long naps.

Cookie just was not in a picture taking mood this morning. Cookie is only 1 pound 10 ounces, tiny compared to her big brother. Cookie is still being bottle fed several times a day.
I let mom out to go potty before I feed Cookie and just in the few min it takes to get the bottle ready Cookie will take off across the kitchen floor in search of her bottle.
Most puppies don't start exploring the world around them until they are between 3-4 weeks old. I guess that makes Cookie a real explorer.
I just uploaded more pictures of Oreo and Cookie

Oops!

Here we go again!
Alice, our Bernese mountain Dog, was in heat over spring break and I told Kim to keep her separate from our Bichon Frise Saul so she would not get pregnant.
But accidents happen and once it is done there is just no undoing.
I had started thinking it was a false pregnancy.
Friday June 12th Alice let us know at 6 am that she was planning on having puppies.

Alice had a little black and white boy at 11 am. Kim has named him OREO.
Around noon a little sister arrived. She waited a few days for a name and was finally named COOKIE.

Little OREO is a perfect little guy. He is almost 2 pounds already!

Little COOKIE has had a bit of a struggle. She has a cleft lip. We were so worried about her we rushed her to the vet fearing she had a cleft palet. Little Cookie has a gardian angel, our Vet assured us that she only has a cleft lip and that when she is 5 weeks old we can correct the problem with just a few stitches. Her nose will always be a little off skew but she doesn't mind. Cookie has a difficult time latching onto mom for milk so every few hours she gets a bottle. Kim and I take turns getting up in the night to bottle feed little Cookie. Momma Alice is very understanding and lets Cookie Try to nurse. Alice also keeps Cookie clean and snuggles with her and Oreo.
I have an appointment scedualed for Cookie to have her stitches and for Mamma Alice to be spayed in 5 weeks.
I will have a link to more pictures later today.

Empty Nest

Athena went home yesterday. She found a great family with 2 children to play chase with. I am very happy for her.

I always miss the puppies when they are gone. But I know I gave them a good start and they will be very happy in their new homes. If I hear from them or maybe get pictures I will be sure to list them.

Apollo and Athena are 8 weeks old!

I could not help my self last night and snapped a few shots. These 2 are just too cute.
My funny Valentine!

Momma Alice(Black) and Daddy Saul (white). Alice was digging for a bone and Saul wanted to Check it out!

Our little princess. She is always giving me the "But Mom" look.

Out little Apollo, what a card.
Apollo and Athena are so much fun. This week we started going outside to potty and play every 2 hours or so. I think they were born to play in the snow.
We have also made progress with leash training. This week we went to PetSmart twice and walked very well on a leash. Athena wants to meet all the Big dogs and Apollo follows along.
They are both still looking for forever homes. If you would like to see more pictures of this pair playing in the snow they can be found on our Picasa site with pictures of them as they grew.
Ta For now, off to Petsmart for more play.

7 Weeks old and Looking for forever homes

Apollo is a lovely little fellow at 7 weeks old. He is laid back and loves to play.
This week both puppies have been leash training. We leash train by attaching the leashes to each puppy and letting them run around. They tug at each others leashes and get stuck on furniture, they are always supervised so when they get stuck the heroes (humans) come to the rescue. This week the puppies also went to the Vet for shots and a look over. They are both very healthy and now ready to head to new homes.
Our little princess Athena. Athena is a doll and loves to play with Dexter. This week she has been sneaking in to his kennel. Athena has a very thick shorter coat.

Dexter and the puppies are looking for a tidbit in Dexter's floor mat. The puppies love to spend time with Dexter, and Dexter seems to enjoy spending time with the puppies. If the puppies rub against Dexter's leg he lays down and lets the puppies crawl all over him. Like most new things the puppies and Dexter are always supervised when they play together.

Play time. I happened to snap a few in the middle of a mock battle. All puppies love to ruff house for a little while each day. Toys are a good substitute for a sibling when it comes to playtime. If you would like to see more pictures of the puppies I have them listed on my Picasa site.
We have been working on potty training for the past 2 weeks. As it has been soo cold here in Iowa we have been putting the puppies into the greenhouse every few hours and they go outside for 1 potty break each day. The puppies have learned to climb the 3 stairs into the house and are pretty good about comming in when they are called.
